Camargue White Horses & Picturesque Provence

Tour Leader: Serge Krouglikoff

So many people across the globe fulfil their life-long dream with us to photograph the Wild White Horses of the Camargue. You can’t beat the adrenalin rush of this noble breed splashing through the shallow waters of the marsh and lakes in their natural habitat. We have combined this workshop with another dream of many – the picturesque villages of Provence in the Spring adorned with spring flowers and poppies, making it picture-perfect! Understandably, so many famous artists came to this region to paint endless canvasses due to the extraordinary light. Capture iconic, award-winning photos with Serge on home soil.

Day 1.

Meet at Marseille airport around 12h00 noon. You will be collected from the airport for transfer to your charming hotel in the heart of Provence. Take time to unwind & unpack.

After a welcome/briefing meeting late afternoon, we set off for a shoot in the picturesque village, with the warm setting sun lighting up the ochre stone colours, before we enjoy dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 2.

We head off before sunrise to capture some of the most beautiful Lubéron villages of Provence in the soft morning light.

Late afternoon we set off again to photograph the beautiful Provence spring flowers and Poppies, offering striking splashes of colour to the picturesque landscapes. We also meander amongst the narrow streets of the quaint villages with their photogenic shutters and doors.

Day 3.

Today we photograph different villages. You can obtain a wide array of images including perched villages, some with stunning views out across the valley floor with a patchwork of orchards and vineyards.

We also capture a beautiful and still working 12th century abbey in a sublime, solitary setting, one of the most iconic sights in Provence.

Day 4.

We photograph the village at sunrise, for the last time, with the morning sun warming the ochre-red stone.

We return to the hotel for breakfast before checking out and heading for the Camargue.

Check in to the hotel and take time to unwind, unpack and visit the beautiful mediaeval village. A relaxed evening to capture some typical clichés, within the old city walls and a view of the ramparts at sunset.

Day 5.

In the morning, we head to the beach for a shoot with a beautiful white Camargue stallion. We photograph him rearing on the top of the sand dunes and running along the golden sand of the beach, making for striking action shots and beautiful portraits.

In the afternoon, we photograph the iconic Wild White Horses running through the marsh and heading straight towards your cameras. We shoot several drives with the horses running towards and across your field of view. We will also take shots of the ‘Gardians’ (Camargue Cowboys) dressed in their traditional Camargue shirts & hats, trident in hand, surrounded by the herd as well as close-up portraits of both the horses and the weathered ranchers.

Day 6.

At sunrise we have another session with the horses running together through the shallow waters of the marsh, but with a different composition. After the action, we take peaceful portraits and close-ups of the horses and Gardians.

In the afternoon, we photograph the sparring stallions – this is a unique opportunity to see the White Horses entwined at full height, in feisty temperament with their manes flying.

Day 7.

At sunrise, we capture the ultimate scene of the Wild White horses running through the surf along the beach with sea spray flying. We will also photograph them at a peaceful lagoon, with beautiful reflections.

Return to the hotel for breakfast and check out, before departures to Montpellier airport (flights from early afternoon).
