Absolute Horses!

Designed for equine and wildlife photographers, this workshop includes the best of all our Camargue White Horses shoots including running in the marsh, at a beautiful minimalist lake and on the beach and in the sea; a beautiful white stallion on the beach and sparring stallions – all providing different compositions, locations and backdrops. You can’t beat the adrenalin rush of this noble breed splashing through the shallow waters and heading straight towards your camera! We will also do a shoot with a beautiful black stallion on the beach and frolicking in the sea, and an indoor portraits shoot with different breeds of horse, using lighting, against a moody backdrop.

Day 1

We will collect you from Montpellier airport for transfer to your hotel.

Once everyone has arrived, we will gather for a welcome drink and briefing meeting.

Day 2

In the morning, we head to a local ranch to photograph different breeds of horses, including Camargue, Andalusian and Lusitano. This is an indoor shoot, using lighting against a moody backdrop, so you can capture intense portraits of these beautifully trained horses.

In the afternoon, we photograph the Camargue wild white horses running through the marsh and woods. We shoot several drives with the horses running across and towards your field of view. We will also take portraits of the ‘Gardians’ (Camargue Cowboys) dressed in their traditional Camargue attire, trident in hand, surrounded by the herd.

Day 3

At sunrise, we capture the Camargue horses, running together through the shallow waters of a large lake at a minimalist location. After the action, we take close-up portraits of the horses.

In the afternoon, we photograph the sparring stallions – this is a unique opportunity to see the Camargue white horses entwined at full height, in feisty temperament, with their manes flying.

Day 4

At sunrise, we head to the beach to capture the Camargue wild white horses running along the golden sand and in the sea. We also photograph the horses in a peaceful lagoon with beautiful reflections.

Late afternoon, we go to a different beach for a shoot with a beautiful trained white Camargue stallion. We photograph him running and rearing on the top of the sand dunes, and running on the beach and in the sea, making for striking action shots.

Day 5

In the morning, we photograph a striking black Andalusian stallion who loves the beach! We capture him running along the beach and dashing and diving in and out of the sea and surf, making for a wide range of dramatic images.

For the final shoot, we capture the sparring stallions on the beach in the golden glow of winter sunset.

A deposit of 25% is payable at the time of booking

* To join our workshops, you need to have a good understanding of how your own camera works (how to set it up in Manual, Aperture and Shutter priority) and understand about exposure.

Please note there is a minimum number of people required on this workshop, so please do not book your flights until you have checked with us.

Cost including hotel £390 pp.

If you would like to arrive a day early to benefit from a course on your camera, settings, techniques and how to obtain the best out of your workshop, please let us know. We consider the pre-course very worthwhile for intermediate-level photographers and essential for beginners or photographers with new equipment with which they are not familiar.
